Midwest

Sometimes the best adventures can be found in the Midwest! Often, the center of the United States is overlooked, but there are wonderful destinations here. As a Missouri girl, I want to share the adventures we’ve had. Click the links below for my blog posts on our adventures.

Riding the Duck with our quackers in Branson

In Missouri, be sure to check out Branson!  We’ve been going to this family-fun destination for years.  We live just an hour and a half away, so we’ve been known to hop over there for a few hours or a few days.  If you’re near Diamond, George Washington Carver National Monument is a nice stop to learn a little about Carver and take a walk in the woods.  I also have three destinations that I recommend for families in Missouri–Branson, Hannibal, and Roaring River State Park near Cassville.

Aircraft at the National Museum of the United States Air Force
The National Museum of the United States Air Force

In Ohio, we’ve visited the National Museum of the United States Air Force in Dayton.  This is such a wonderful museum, and it’s free!  We’ve also spent a night in Columbus where we had a great day at Jack Hanna’s Columbus Zoo.

Custer State Park Bison with Calf
Buffalo at Custer State Park

We’ll never forget our great trip to South Dakota.  It’s a great family destination, and the opportunities to get closer to nature our abundant.  One of the highlights for us was a day spent at Custer State Park.   We spent a few days in Keystone and enjoyed seeing Mount Rushmore twice in one day!  We also spent a night near the Badlands and visited Wall Drug.  One of my favorite parts of the trips was spending a night in a wagon on the Ingalls Homestead in De Smet.  We had fun learning about the everyday life of Laura Ingalls Wilder.

I encourage you to see what the Midwest has to offer!
