When we visit Walt Disney World, we drive from Missouri, so our trips are usually at least two weeks long.  We often arrive in Orlando in the afternoon, and sometimes we stay offsite for a night before we really get the trip started.  I also try to build in pockets of rest throughout the trip so we aren’t so exhausted that we aren’t enjoying ourselves.  Believe me, in the summer when we travel, it’s a good idea to hit the parks at rope drop and take an afternoon break; then we usually head back to the parks in the evening.

If you’re not ready for the parks, where can you get that taste of Disney?  Why Disney Springs, of course.  You should definitely check out the entertainment and shopping, and while you’re there, you may as well try a fun place to eat.  Raglan Road is a fun place to have a little Disney fun outside of the parks.  Here is our Raglan Road review.

Why Choose Raglan Road?

There are certainly many fun and delicious places to try in Disney Springs.  For example, T-Rex and Rainforest Cafe are two of my family’s favorites.  Still, those places are geared more to the kids, so if you’re looking for an entertaining restaurant that’s fun for the whole family, give Raglan Road a shot.  The food is great, but the live Irish music and dancing make it a family favorite!

Before Dinner

I absolutely suggest getting an Advance Dining Reservation, or ADR as Disney calls them, for this restaurant.  You could chance it, but I wouldn’t during the summer.  To make that ADR, click here.  To see the dancers, you’ll need to dine between 4:30 pm-10:00 pm.  On our visit, we made our ADR at 6:00 pm, and it seemed like the perfect time for us.  The restaurant is located in the Landing section of Disney Springs, so you’ll need to plan some time to park and walk to that area.  If you’re in the mood for fish and chips without the sit-down meal, Cookes of Dublin is nearby.

Once you get to the restaurant, you’ll need to check in.

On our evening, there was only one party ahead of us, so I didn’t request a room in the main dining area where most of the entertainment happens.  The hostess said she could seat us immediately, so we followed her inside.  She started to take us to a side room.  That’s when Jeff spoke up and said we’d like to be seated in the main dining room.  She said the wait would be about 20 minutes longer, and that was fine with us.  We walked back out, but as soon as we got to the podium, she told us we could be seated.  So it turned out we had no wait at all!  If possible, I’d request the main room, especially if it’s your first visit.

Raglan Road’s Irish Dancers

When we first arrived, the dancers were in the outside seating area.  If you don’t get the main dining room, you’ll still see the dancers, you just won’t see them onstage.  We were seated in a half-booth on the end.  Though we were next to other tables and since we were on the end,  Jeff could sometimes sit by Kristin and me on the booth side to see the dancing better, or he could sit in his chair to eat. The main dining room is beautiful!

It wasn’t long before the dancers came inside.

The musicians are great, too!

The Food in Raglan Road

Soon after the hostess seated us, our server took our drink order.  When Jeff is at Disney World, he likes to try different beers from around the world.  He had to try an Irish brew recommended by our server. I usually take a sip to say I’ve tried it, but beer isn’t really my favorite thing.

The server brought the bread service next.  The dipping sauce is a Guinness reduction that is sweet.  I loved it, but my picky companions weren’t impressed.  I also love the dishes they use at Raglan Road!

Here is the dinner menu.

As for my entree, I went with the steak.  I loved that the steak is served with a few onion rings and mashed potatoes.  And I know this is sacrilege for enjoying steak, but I love a little A-1 sauce, no matter how good the steak is.  I wondered if they had some, and lo and behold, they did!  The steak was so tender.  This turned out to be one of my favorite steaks at Disney!

My companions went with the chicken strips.  I know.  I know.   Jeff would’ve liked the steak if he had substituted fries for the side, though.

I wish we’d had room for dessert, but I was so full! Maybe next time.  Although I do remember Kristin trying a cupcake at Sprinkles at some point during the evening.  We watched another set of dancing while we finished up dinner and settled the check.  So much fun!

Raglan Road at Walt Disney World was a perfect experience for getting our Disney trip started.  Not only did we wander around Disney Springs, but we had an entertaining meal as well.  Be sure to put Raglan Road on your list of Disney must-dos!

  7. What a great place! Your steak looked incredible, and the bread and stout dipping sauce sounds fantastic! The entertainment would be loved my my entire family! Wonderful!

  8. We’ve been to Raglan Road a few times over the years, but it just hasn’t been the magical experience everyone else seems to have. For some reason, they never put us where the dancers are and we have had some issues with them regarding food allergies in the past. We’re willing to give it another try, but it may be a bit. The Irish dancers are phenomenal, though. I’ve seen then on videos and I have tons of friends who have had the chance to get up close to the shows. Glad you had a great time!

I’m sorry about the issues with food allergies. I completely agree about being in the room with the dancers. We were wiling to wait if we had to.

  9. I’d love to go! I’ve never seen Irish dancing in person and I’ve always wanted to

  10. As many times as I have been to Disney Springs, we have not eaten here. I bet the dances are amazing. I will need to add it to the list.
