We had a wonderful time at the Plaza Inn for Minnie and Friends, Breakfast in the Park. When we were planning our trip to Disneyland, I was excited to find out that the park had a character breakfast that allowed you to meet approximately eight characters in one dining experience. Yay! As Walt Disney World vets, we were used to meeting a number closer to five at once. When I read that the characters are not guaranteed, that you had no idea who may show up, well, I knew this was a character meal we needed to try. So at exactly 60 days out, the reservation window at Disneyland (WDW’s is 180 days), I easily booked us an Advance Dining Reservation (ADR) for a pre-opening character breakfast at Plaza Inn. Some Things We Learned First, I don’t know if it was a weird fluke because of the timing of Star…
Updated: April 2019 When I asked my daughter where she wanted to eat during our last Disney trip, she didn’t even hesitate when she said, “Chef Mickey’s!” We had been one other time, but she was only two years old. Since she had seen the pictures of that trip over and over, she knew what to expect. When she was two, she was really unsure about the characters, but now, she is a pro when it comes to meeting them. Jeff and I thought, hey, why not? Let’s go! This place is pretty popular, so I highly recommend reservations. I make my reservations as soon as the window opens at 180 days. I easily got a reservation booking that early. I also got the time I was hoping for. Chef Mickey’s closes in the afternoon, so you can book at or near 5:00 p.m. and be part of the first…
I love going to Walt Disney World. It’s no secret; I love the all the little details and the exceptional entertainment. My husband has also become a Disney fan, and my daughter Kristin is still talking about our most recent trip. One of the best experiences at Disney is character dining. Food plus characters? Sign me up! For our last visit, we did some resort hopping so that we could experience Disney in new ways. One of those resorts was Disney’s Boardwalk. On the day we planned to move to Bay Lake Tower, I made an ADR (advanced dining reservation) for the Bon Voyage Adventure Breakfast at Trattoria al Forno, a restaurant located on the Boardwalk. We slept in a little later since we’d been doing rope drops, and then we packed the car. After we’d checked out, we made our way outside to the restaurant. If you’d like to…
If you are looking for a great way to meet Disney princesses without waiting in long lines or using your FastPasses, then you should consider booking a character meal like the one at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall in the Norway Pavillion at Epcot. This is also a cheaper option if you don’t want to spend the extra money or use two dining credits at Cinderella’s Royal Table in the castle at the Magic Kingdom. Cinderella’s Royal Table is an amazing experience that I think everyone should try once, though. Click here to read about our experience there. Anyway, we decided to try Akershus for our daughter’s first princess character meal, and I am so glad we did! We have some wonderful pictures and memories now. Getting to Akershus Royal Banquet Hall We decided to do breakfast for our meal at Akershus, and we opted to go at opening so that the…
Since this year we were at the World for my birthday, there was only one place I wanted to have my birthday dinner–Cinderella’s Royal Table. I have been dreaming about it for awhile, and when it was time to make my ADRs, I was ready. The only problem was when I logged into my account on my day, there wasn’t any availability. I knew that in the past this place was hard to get, but in recent years this seemed easier to get. I was bummed until I read on the DISBoards that they were not opening up reservations yet for some reason. So when they did open up, I got a reservation at a great time–6:30 p.m. Kristin decided to wear her Elsa dress, so we got her ready in the room and then headed over. I wanted to leave in plenty of time, and we did. We…
