While many would probably disagree with me, T-Rex Café in Disney Springs is a great place for families, especially if your family has some eaters on the picky side who would love to have some food options that are familiar. While it is part of the Landry’s family of restaurants, T-Rex Café is now one-of-a-kind since the closure of the Kansas City location. And while you can find similar food options at either of the Rainforest Cafés or Yak and Yeti on Disney property, T-Rex Café is the only place where you can dine near animatronic dinosaurs. How cool is that? Now that I’ve explained the coolness of T-Rex Café, I’ll tell you why this place should be one of your family’s Walt Disney World must-dos! It’s in Disney Springs If you’re planning to take some time away from the parks or your resort, Disney Springs is a great place…
One of my favorite things to do at Walt Disney World is to eat at the fun restaurants on property, and one of my family’s favorites in any park is the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This restaurant recreates a drive-in movie experience complete with a big screen and tables inside convertibles! If this doesn’t have you sold yet, I’ll explain my three reasons this restaurant ranks so high on our list! 1. The atmosphere inside Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant is just plain awesome. As I explained above, the restaurant had some of the most unique theming anywhere. From the outside, it looks like nothing special. But inside, it’s like a whole other world. Most of the tables inside are in convertibles, and most of them seat six adults. If you have a smaller party, you may end up with some “hitchhikers,” but honestly, you may not…
If you’re looking for a Walt Disney World resort that has easy access to Epcot, you really can’t go wrong with Disney’s Boardwalk Inn. Since we’ve begun our Disney adventures, we’ve also stayed at The Beach Club. While The Beach Club is a wonderful resort, I think the Boardwalk edges it out a little for being the favorite for our family. Our family’s favorite resort overall is Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. To read about our stays there, click here. We often do split stays so we can reap the benefits of different resorts while trying different Disney experiences. If you’re into split stays or you love Epcot, keep reading. To help you plan your next Disney vacation, I’ve outlined 6 reasons that Boardwalk Inn wins in the Epcot-area resorts category. 1.…
Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort is my favorite resort at Walt Disney World. When we took our first family trip to Walt Disney World, my youngest was two years old. Now, as she approaches eleven, we’ve had four trips to the World and one to Disneyland. We’ve learned a few things since that first trip, and now we can say we truly have a favorite Disney resort. Now keep in mind, several resorts are in the running for second place, and depending on the circumstances surrounding the trip, I may even choose another resort for a trip. Also note, we are split-stayers now. We enjoy a good Epcot area resort to start the trip, and then we like to finish things off with Bay Lake Tower. I’ll explain all of my reasons, and maybe you’ll want to try Bay Lake Tower and see if it’s your favorite Disney…
Like anyone else, when planning our dining experiences at Walt Disney World, I take into consideration if it’s a good fit for my family. I’m slightly more adventurous than my husband and daughter, but not by much. ‘Ohana had been on my radar, but I didn’t know if my family would like it. Sometimes they humor me and go somewhere just because I want to try it; then we get them chicken strips or something similar later. I’m happy to report that ‘Ohana at Walt Disney World’s Polynesian Village Resort is a great match for us. We’ve been there for dinner twice, and I wouldn’t hesitate to eat there during any Disney trip. Sometimes it gets mixed reviews, but we’ve had great experiences. Walt Disney World’s Polynesian Village Resort We’ve never stayed at the Poly, but we love to stay a monorail stop away at Bay Lake Tower at the…
I’d been wanting to try Mexican food in the Epcot pavilion at Walt Disney World for a couple of trips, and I finally convinced my husband to give it a try. Note–he let me give it a try. He sat this one out, right across the table from me. Jeff and Kristin are my picky travel companions, but they indulge me from time to time. Thank you! I know that San Angel Inn Restaurante inside of Epcot’s Mexico pavilion doesn’t always get the best reviews, but I really liked it. I would go back again anytime. San Angel Inn is located inside the big pyramid in the Mexico area; there is another Mexican restaurant located across the way over the water–La Hacienda de San Angel. It’s easy to confuse the two. Just know that San Angel Inn is inside the pyramid. You’ll see it when you explore the pavilion even…
When we visit Walt Disney World, we drive from Missouri, so our trips are usually at least two weeks long. We often arrive in Orlando in the afternoon, and sometimes we stay offsite for a night before we really get the trip started. I also try to build in pockets of rest throughout the trip so we aren’t so exhausted that we aren’t enjoying ourselves. Believe me, in the summer when we travel, it’s a good idea to hit the parks at rope drop and take an afternoon break; then we usually head back to the parks in the evening. If you’re not ready for the parks, where can you get that taste of Disney? Why Disney Springs, of course. You should definitely check out the entertainment and shopping, and while you’re there, you may as well try a fun place to eat. Raglan Road is a fun place to…
I’ve had a pretty busy spring. I recently wrapped up directing my high school’s production of the musical Beauty and the Beast at the end of March. While it was an amazing experience for the kids and me, it was life-consuming. Jeff builds the set and runs sound, and this year, Kristin made her acting debut as a wolf. It wasn’t easy trying to maintain a normal family life. Add my teaching and coaching responsibilities, and I was barely surviving. Things like blogging and other writing had to go to the backburner for a while. I’ve slowly been digging out of the enormous hole of neglected stuff and getting some rest. Throughout the production, though, my thoughts often turned to our visit last summer to Walt Disney World’s Be Our Guest Restaurant at the Magic Kingdom. Belle and Beast’s story seems to be interwoven in our lives. Be Our Guest–The…
Updated: April 2019 When I asked my daughter where she wanted to eat during our last Disney trip, she didn’t even hesitate when she said, “Chef Mickey’s!” We had been one other time, but she was only two years old. Since she had seen the pictures of that trip over and over, she knew what to expect. When she was two, she was really unsure about the characters, but now, she is a pro when it comes to meeting them. Jeff and I thought, hey, why not? Let’s go! This place is pretty popular, so I highly recommend reservations. I make my reservations as soon as the window opens at 180 days. I easily got a reservation booking that early. I also got the time I was hoping for. Chef Mickey’s closes in the afternoon, so you can book at or near 5:00 p.m. and be part of the first…
